  • 40% of all U.S. Presidents had Irish ancestry. (As of 2006)
  • Maewyn Succat is St. Patrick's real birth name.

So what is Green Moday?

December 10, 2012 is "Green Monday," another one of those arbitrary, fabricated shopping events which gives retailers an excuse to offer some purchase-motivating limited time discounts and Christmas shoppers an excuse to snatch them up without any more reason than "it was such a good deal."

Green Monday is an online retail industry term similar to Cyber Monday. The term was coined by eBay to describe its best sales day in December, traditionally the 2nd Monday of December. Green Monday is defined more specifically by business research organization comScore as the Monday with at least 10 days prior to Christmas.

The number of retailers that participate in Green Monday is significantly smaller than the number that play the Black Friday or Cyber Monday game. Therefore the competition for shopper's attention is not quite so fierce, and the deals are neither as plentiful nor as good. But despite all that, Green Monday 2012 does offer shoppers discounts up to 90% off regular prices. And Green Monday deals include some of the most popular Christmas items for 2012 including notebook computers, blu-ray players, iPad accessories, hard drives, HDTVs, toys, dolls, computer accessories, tools and playstation, xbox, and nintendo games.

So basically you can get a great Green Monday discount on items in just about every category except for mobile phones. There is a curious absence of great mobile phone deals and discounts available on Green Monday.

      George Killian's Irish Red is a beer with an Irish heritage, based on a recipe created at Lett's Brewery in Enniscorthy, Ireland, in 1864. The beer is named after George Killian Lett, the great-grandson of George Henry Lett, who founded the brewery in Enniscorthy. George Killian Lett died at the age of 84 in Enniscorthy, Ireland in December of 2010. It was originally an Irish red ale called "Enniscorthy Ruby Ale," and brewed from 1864 to 1956, when the brewery closed and it was discontinued. It is no longer sold in Ireland. The brand name "George Killian" was purchased by the Pelforth Brewery in France. In the mid 1980's Coors bought the rights to use the brand name "Killian's Irish Red" in America. While the name is most often associated with a 4.9% abv amber lager which had become very popular, it was originally marketed by Coors as ale.
